With the rise of the internet and social media in general, users have become more connected than ever before. As a result, businesses need to adapt fast so that they remain relevant and successful.
To be relevant, a business needs to assess its social media performance and improvise. As much as it is important to create and publish content on social media, it is equally important to track the performance of the content and analyze it. To measure these results, one needs to track social media metrics.
Here are some important metrics that businesses need to track. By understanding and tracking these metrics, you'll be able to better understand your customers and adjust your marketing strategies accordingly.
Impressions
Impressions are the number of times your content appears on the user’s screen. It is an important metric which helps in knowing if the content is getting in front of your audience or not. An increase in impressions means that your content is getting shown to your audience and vice-versa.
Reach
Reach is the number of times your content is seen by the users. Tracking reach helps to know if your content is being seen by your audience or not. The reach is less than impressions in number because impressions are based on the content views and reach is measured in terms of users.
Engagement rate
Another important metric is engagement rate which calculates the percentage of users who engage with your content on social media. The engagement rate is calculated as:
Engagement rate = Total number of engagements*100 / Total reach
The total number of engagements includes likes, comments, shares and other engagement criteria.
Conversion rate
Conversion rate is the percentage of people who take your desired action on your social media. It can be visiting your website, downloading an e-book, buying your product, etc.
It varies from industry to industry and across different social media platforms.
Make a report and add all the metrics and analyze. Tracking all of these social media metrics will help you analyze the performance of your content and your social media strategy. You can change your social media strategy and content strategy if it’s not working.
