Best social media campaigns from IPL 2022

The IPL is one of the most popular cricket tournaments in India. The tournament is a big deal for brands as well. Brands try to get their campaigns on social media to be seen by the maximum number of people during IPL.

Brands came up with new ways to entice the audience during IPL 2022. CRED, Swiggy, Dream11, Zepto, Spotify, and so many other brands came up with innovative campaigns.

Here are a few of them.

CRED

CRED brought back the 90s to launch its IPL Campaign

It evoked nostalgia by recreating the Nirma ad with Karishma Kapoor. The ad introduced CRED Bounty, where users can invite their friends and family to play along with them and stand a chance to win exciting prizes.

CRED had hinted at it the day before on Instagram. It posted pictures of famous things in the 90s on Instagram to entice the audience and for them to keep guessing what was coming.

We could see CRED's 43.8k Twitter followers waiting for CRED's ad more than IPL.

CRED also brought back its Powerplay where users won 100% cashback when they paid their credit card bills during powerplay overs of any match.

CRED received appreciation from netizens for its creative ads.

Swiggy Instamart

Swiggy Instamart - the official sponsor partner of TATA IPL 2022.

“Aap kiske saath dekhoge? The match, the IPL is here and so is Swiggy Instamart’s delivery in minutes.”

The first film in the series showed the father appalled by the child throwing tantrums during his match. To his rescue, came Swiggy Instamart. They released another ad film mentioning “hum jaldi aa jaate hain”, which promoted Swiggy Instamart’s delivery in minutes, with no need to wait for hours or days.

Swiggy Instamart’s IPL ads were about watching the match without interruptions by getting groceries delivered in minutes.

Dream 11

Dream11 played big in TATA IPL 2022

Dream 11 brought back its Dream Big campaign and the “Ye main kar leta hoon” series.

As per its previous campaigns, Dream 11 ran two campaigns running parallel for IPL 2022.

  1. “Dream bada ho toh koi akela nahi hota” - This series featured Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and other cricketers. They shared their past stories and paid tribute to those who silently supported them in their journey.

  2. “Yeh main kar leta hoon” - Dream11 roped in influencers and cricketers for this campaign to keep things fun. The first two videos in the series featured Pandya brothers and Rishabh Pant telling influencers, Twins Rush and Neel Kolhatkar, shooting videos - “Yeh main kar leta hoon, aap Dream11 pe jaake team banao” (translated as I’ll do this, you make a team on Dream11).

To give the Dream Big campaign a boost, Dream11 asked users on Twitter to share how their DreamBig story started.

Dream11 made it big this IPL season with 17 ad films as compared to 12 ad films during IPL 2021. Dream11 was also the official partner for 7 teams.
